The Collector's House, located at 209 W. South Street, is a 1325 square-foot, 2-story masonry “shotgun row house” built in 1920, with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and original heart pine floors.   Completely renovated in early 2013, this high-ceilinged, sun-filled house has been furnished to provide a relaxing, attractive oasis to guests, with all the comforts of home.  It is the right side of a duplex building.  (The left side of the duplex is also a FrederickVacationRentals.com property, called The Artist's House.) 

 

The Collector's House is decorated with many unusual objects from the quirky and eclectic collections of the owner's father, a true Renaissance man and self-professed "Master Pack Rat."  (You can't take it all with you, but you CAN leave it to your children...) 

 

The Collector's House has beds for 6 and an additional inflatable airbed.

On the first floor are
 

·         a covered front porch with a wrought iron table and chairs;

 

·         a front living room with warm sunny walls, a big comfortable sofa, two easy chairs, and a 46-inch flat screen HDTV;

 

·         an open central dining room with a several display cabinets and a hardwood table with 6 chairs;

 

·         a fully-equipped kitchen at the back of the house with new appliances, butcher block countertops, a small table with seating for two, a rolling center island, the original ironing board closet, and a small pantry/vestibule leading to the backyard;

 

·         a new powder room with plenty of storage and upscale fixtures; 

 

·         private backyard with a small patio and lots of patio furniture;

 

·         a charming landscaped garden of native flowers, with a grape arbor, and an ivy-covered fence;

 

·         a tall wooden wall and door leading to 2 off-street parking spaces in the back alley.

Upstairs are three bedrooms and two new bathrooms:
 

·         The front master bedroom has a cast iron King bed, a well-stocked bookcase and a handcarved chair, as well as a large new private bathroom with shower;

 

·         The cozy middle bedroom features a white twin bed with a pull out trundle drawer;

 

·         The back bedroom has a Queen bed and walk-in closet;

 

·         The rear bathroom, looking out on the garden, has a new appliances and built in linen shelving.  This bath is shared by the back two bedrooms.

 

The King and Queen bedrooms have new luxury Sleep Number (Select Comfort) mattresses; all three bedrooms have designer linens, dressers, ceiling fans, and closets.
The 93 year-old Collector’s House is heated with forced air heat and cooled with new central air conditioning.  The house also has 4 ceiling fans.
 
The unfinished  basement contains a washer and dryer, plenty of storage and cabinet space, and a “project" table with 6 chairs.  The home’s owners live in Frederick and can also provide basic “homeowner tools and supplies” and any special fixtures/features for those guests staying longer than a quick visit.
