The Artist's House, located at 211 W. South Street, is a 1325 square-foot, 2-story masonry “shotgun row house” built in 1920, with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and original heart pine floors. Completely renovated in late 2010, this high-ceilinged, sun-filled house has been furnished to provide a relaxing, attractive oasis to guests, with all the comforts of home. It is the left side of a duplex building. (The right side of the duplex is also a FrederickVacationRentals.com property, called The Collector's House.)

The Artist's House features an eclectic art collection, showcasing the work of local area artists, including painters, photographers, potters, woodworkers, sculptors, crafters and musicians.

The Artist's House has beds for 5 and 2 additional inflatable airbeds.

On the first floor are

· a covered front porch with a wrought iron table and chairs;

· a front living room with stunning woodwork, a big comfortable sofa, two easy chairs, and a 46-inch flat screen HDTV;

· an open central dining room with bookshelves and a pecan hardwood table with 6 chairs and matching cabinetry;

· a fully-equipped kitchen at the back of the house with new appliances, granite countertops, a center island with seating, and the original ironing board closet;

· a new powder room with plenty of storage and upscale fixtures;

· a private backyard with a small patio and lots of patio furniture;

· a charming landscaped garden of native flowers and an ivy-covered fence;

· a tall masonry wall and door leading to 2 off-street parking spaces in the back alley.

Upstairs are three bedrooms and two new bathrooms:

· The front master bedroom has a cast iron King bed and comfortable chair, as well as a large new private bathroom with shower/tub;

· The cozy middle bedroom features an artist-designed cast iron Twin bed made in France;

· The back bedroom has a Plantation-style Queen bed and walk-in closet;

· The charming rear bathroom includes a 54-inch acrylic claw foot tub with overhead showerhead, a Greek-style toilet and a designer sink/vanity. This bath is shared by the back two bedrooms.

The King and The Queen bedrooms have new luxury Sleep Number (Select Comfort) mattresses. All bedrooms have designer linens, dressers, ceiling fans, and closets.

The 93 year-old Artist’s House is heated with hot water steam heat and cooled with new 2-zoned central air conditioning. The hot water heater and boiler are new, but the radiators are original with the house. The house also has 5 ceiling fans.

The unfinished basement contains a washer and dryer, plenty of storage and cabinet space, and a “project" table with 4 chairs. The home’s owners live in Frederick and can also provide basic “homeowner tools and supplies” and any special fixtures/features for those guests staying longer than a quick visit.

The Artist's House celebrates the talents of many local Frederick area artists. Their work is displayed throughout the house and many pieces are available for purchase directly from the artists themselves. Here is a small sampling of some of the pieces that you may
